FAQs
How many sessions do I need to attend to see a benefit?
This would depend on what you are struggling with and how long you have been struggling for. I would typically suggest a minimum of 6 sessions. That is enough time for you to get a good feel for art therapy and start seeing the benefits.
What happens in an art therapy session?
In each session we do a different creative activity. Each session is designed to help with the issue/issues that you struggling with. Once you have completed the task, we then chat about your creation. You will often find the most astounding personal insights emerge when you step back and really look at the art that you have created.
Do I need to bring anything?
No, but I would advise wearing comfortable clothes that you do not mind getting paint on.
Can I take my art home with me?
I keep your art until our sessions end. Once our sessions have concluded you may take all your art home with you.
Are my sessions confidential?
Yes, unless you are thinking of hurting yourself, thinking of hurting someone else, someone has hurt you or you give me permission to share.
Can I claim a Medicare rebate?
No, not yet. But you can use your creative kids vouchers.
Can I do art as therapy even if I am not struggling with my mental health?
Yes! Art can be used to help achieve your goals, problem solve and find direction and meaning in your life.
